Ask Premiere Wynne to Cancel the Industrial Wind Turbine Projects
The group Save The Nation is still active and taking steps to prevent the construction of the industrial wind turbine project proposed for the St-Bernardin area.
We need your help and participation in order to attain this goal. We ask that you sign a letter and return it to us no later than December 2, 2016.
With this letter campaign, we are asking the Premier of Ontario to cancel the wind turbine project at St-Bernardin as well as the other projects announced in phase 1 that are not wanted by the affected communities. We will deliver your letters to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario before the end of the fall session.
For more information about the projects, please read the Recap of the Current Situation at the bottom of this email.

Recap of the Current Situation
The St-Bernardin project was approved by the province during the phase 1 of a Large Renewable Procurement in March 2016. This project was chosen against the wishes of thousands of municipal residents, a declaration of 'Non-Willing Host' by the municipality and a lack of support by property owners adjacent to the projects. The project at St-Isidore was not chosen, but we expected that it would be resubmitted for phase 2.
In North Stormont and Dutton-Dunwich, two other projects were also approved in phase 1, in similar circumstances to St-Bernardin. Citizens opposed to these projects are also sending letters to the Premier of Ontario asking for the cancellation of projects.
On September 27, 2016, the province announced that phase 2 of the Large Renewable Procurement was 'suspended' because Ontario has a robust supply of electricity for the next ten years. Be aware, 'suspended' does not mean 'cancelled', phase 2 could be reactivated with no advance warning and the St-Isidore project could be resubmitted.
If both the St-Bernardin and St-Isidore projects are eventually built, they will appear on the map as one big project. An estimated 70 industrial wind turbines as high as 65-storey buildings will encircle the two villages and surrounding area from Ste-Rose, through Riceville, Fournier, Routhier, and near Vankleek Hill.
